International Summer
and Winter Schools (KISS)

Lesson

Khabarovsk International Summer and Winter Schools (KISS) is an annual educational project organized and conducted at FESTU. The first summer school was held in 2009. Every year, KISS invites everyone from all over the world to improve their language skills without age restrictions, adapt to study at FESTU, or just have a good time during the summer holidays. Over the years, students from China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, France, Australia, Brazil, Nigeria and other countries have attended the summer school. Classes at the school are in demand both among young people and older people who want to get to know the culture of the peoples of Russia better and improve their knowledge of the Russian language.

The main attention is paid to such issues as the language adaptation of foreign students, the development of their communication skills, increasing the efficiency of the educational process, as well as adaptation to a different organization of the educational process and to new sociocultural conditions.

As part of the summer and winter schools, various tours and excursions are organized for participants (city tour, visits to museums, Orthodox churches, sightseeing, etc.).

Particular attention is paid to the Russian language in the summer and winter schools of the FESTU. It is taught by university philologists. All lessons are held without an interpreter - there is a complete "immersion" in the Russian language. After the completion of the educational program, all participants undergo a final test at the FESTU Testing Center.

Those who wish can also take the test of knowledge of Russian as a foreign language (TORFL), which is mandatory for education in Russia. After completing the summer and winter schools, participants receive certificates. Those participants who have shown special success in their studies are awarded with special certificates.

Since 2020, due to covid restrictions, classes in the summer and winter schools of the Far East State University of Education and Science have been held online. But this does not prevent children from different countries from learning a lot of new and interesting things.
